I’ve been on LinkedIn since what feels like the beginning of time. Back then, it was simple:
Candidates came here to look for jobs
Recruiters came here to find top talent
That was it. That was the whole dance.
But now?
It's ads. It’s bots. It’s cold messages. It’s “easy apply” buttons that feel more like black holes than actual opportunities.
And I’m left wondering: Where are all the serious candidates really going? Where are the companies really hiring from?
I’ve heard people say, “Don’t use the easy apply button—it doesn’t work.” I’ve seen startups that promise to automate your job search with AI… but if LinkedIn’s tools aren’t working, how is AI applying for 300 jobs really helping?
It got me thinking: Maybe the platform didn’t change—I did. Or maybe I'm just using it like it’s still 2012.
So today at 5 p.m. Eastern, I’m bringing in someone who does know what’s up.
Lynnaire Johnston — LinkedIn expert and founder of LinkAbility — is joining me LIVE to talk real strategy:
What works on LinkedIn in 2025
What recruiters are actually doing behind the scenes
What makes a profile click-worthy (and what doesn’t)
Why most job seekers never get seen—and how to fix it
She’ll also help me (and hopefully YOU) figure out: Are we underpromoting? Overpromoting? Using outdated tactics?
This is going to be a real, honest conversation about how to make LinkedIn work for YOU. Whether you’re a job seeker, a consultant, a recruiter, or a salesperson looking for leads—you’re going to walk away with clarity.
Come join us at 5 p.m. Eastern
Recording will be posted on Substack + Facebook
I want to help you get hired. I want to help me get hired. I want to help all of us connect with the right people—for the right reasons.
It won’t hurt to join. It will absolutely help.
Let’s learn together. See you soon.
Thanks for reading,
William Rochelle, but you can call me Bill
