Good morning everyone,

Today, I find myself reflecting on the resonance of my newsletters, specifically identifying which ones are igniting interest and which ones are seemingly struggling to create a ripple. If you're a regular reader, you'll be aware that my newsletters are, in essence, a stream of consciousness, a swirl of topics that mirror the whirlwind nature of my career. From Business Development, Life Lessons, to Uplifting others around us - my thoughts are eclectic.

However, not every topic glows with equal vibrancy. Some, indeed, appear to fall flat. Among those is "Customer Service".

Previously, I penned two pieces under the title, "It's Time to Engage and Make Me a Priority". Yet, these narratives didn't generate the intended response. I’m not entirely surprised. Many businesses tend to place higher importance on human resources, purchasing, logistics, accounting, marketing, and R&D, relegating customer service to the backseat, treated as a basic requirement, but often devoid of tangible value. It's time we reverse this perception.

Think about it. When leveraged correctly, customer service can emerge as a company's most valuable asset. They are, after all, the voice of the company. Unscripted, thoughtful, and observant, they understand the nuances between a buyer's remorse and a poorly structured marketing ad that demands rectification to minimize consumer confusion. They are the ones who catch quality control hitches like an ocean breeze fragrance being accidentally packed into a flower scent box.

Excellent customer service teams' allegiance lies solely with the customers. Hence, when they speak, we ought to listen. They are far from mere genies, awaiting magic commands. Instead, they are the vigilant troubleshooters, handling confusion caused by ambiguous marketing messages, resolving issues with malfunctioning coupon codes, and dealing with customer complaints about formulation changes that lead to undesirable effects.

Their proactive efforts not only prevent operational expense increase but also protect sales by ensuring a positive customer experience.

I've always believed that every business should prioritize customers. And in every organization I've served, this principle remains unchallenged. From the board of directors to our CMO, everyone's first week is spent listening or reviewing the customer contact experience.

The message is simple yet powerful - our frontline shouldn't take a backseat. They are the vital nerve center of our operations.

Thanks for reading,
