Let me be clear—I am not an alarmist. But I am alarmed. And you should be too.

As a concerned citizen of the United States speaking to a global audience, I feel an urgent responsibility to raise my voice before it’s too late. Because what we’re witnessing right now in America should concern not just Americans—but every democracy around the world.

We are seeing the quiet, deliberate dismantling of the systems that were created to protect the people from the government—not the other way around. Peaceful protest is being met with military force. Elected officials are being arrested for exercising their First Amendment rights. The oversight mechanisms that safeguard balance and accountability are being bypassed. And now, we’re talking about using active-duty military against civilians on American soil.

This is not leadership. This is authoritarianism wearing a democracy's skin.

📍 Here’s what’s unfolding right now:

  • Peaceful protesters in Los Angeles were met with tear gas, “non-lethal” bullets, and nerve agents, deployed by the National Guard.

  • There is talk of sending actual military forces (beyond the National Guard) into the streets of Los Angeles.

  • Neither the Governor of California nor the Mayor of Los Angeles requested or approved this militarized response.

  • Elected officials—yes, including a mayor and multiple members of Congress—were arrested for peacefully protesting in New Jersey.

  • Meanwhile, we’re watching military flyovers and armed forces being used in a planned birthday celebration as if this is some kind of monarchy.

Let that sink in.

You don’t have to be a constitutional scholar to recognize the warning signs of creeping tyranny. When power ignores consent, disregards process, and uses violence to silence dissent—it is no longer democracy. It is domination.

And it is unfolding right before our eyes.

🔻 What happens if we don’t stop this?

  • Normalized use of force on civilians becomes the status quo.

  • Checks and balances vanish, making room for unchecked executive power.

  • Dissent becomes criminalized, and fear replaces freedom.

  • Our elections, our rights, and our civic voice become symbolic at best—stripped of real power.

And it won’t stop here. Once these lines are crossed, they don’t get uncrossed.

This is not a partisan issue. This is a human rights issue. A democracy issue. A global issue.

🇺🇸 We are not the subjects of a king. We are citizens of a democracy. And we are watching it erode in real time.

To our global allies: Pay attention. What happens in the United States has a ripple effect around the world. When the world’s most prominent democracy starts using its military against its own people, it signals to every authoritarian regime that they can do the same.

To my fellow Americans: You don’t have to agree politically to be unified morally. This isn’t about left or right—it’s about right and wrong.

So if your instinct is telling you that something feels off—trust it. If your gut is whispering that this isn’t normal—it’s because it isn’t. And if you’ve been waiting for someone to say it louder—consider this that moment.

Because if we, the people, don’t speak now, we may not be allowed to later.
