2025: Respectfully… What the Hell Was That?
Let’s start here. 2025, you are not being romanticized. You are being released.
I am not whispering goodbye. I am saying it out loud, with humor, perspective, and just enough sarcasm to keep it honest.
This was the year that built character when I specifically asked for stability. The year that said “you’re strong” and then tested that theory daily. The year that laughed at timelines, budgets, and five year plans.
Yet, plot twist, I’m still here.
2025 was messy. Financial stress that required creativity and prayer. Professional moments that made the phrase “overqualified” feel like a backhanded compliment. Systems that revealed exactly how broken they are once you’re no longer convenient to them.
There were nights when optimism clocked out early and doubt took the late shift.
Still, I stayed. I stayed engaged. I stayed curious. I stayed open hearted in a world that rewards numbing out.
This was the year I let go aggressively.
I let go of people who needed me smaller so they could feel bigger. I let go of apologizing for being tired, human, and occasionally fed up. I let go of timelines that never belonged to me in the first place. I let go of the belief that struggle means failure.
Sometimes struggle just means you’re doing the work without shortcuts.
Despite all of that, something important happened. I didn’t become bitter. I didn’t stop caring. I didn’t harden. I doubled down on purpose.
I kept fighting for the underserved even when my own resources were tight. I kept showing up for conversations that mattered. I kept giving encouragement while rebuilding my own foundation.
That matters. There were wins. Quiet ones. The kind that don’t need applause.
Creative clarity. Deeper relationships that didn’t require performance. Moments of joy that snuck in unexpectedly and reminded me why I keep going.
Most importantly, I grew. Not louder. Not flashier. Just more grounded. More honest. More myself. So no, I’m not dragging 2025 into the future. I’m thanking it for the lessons and escorting it to the exit.
You did what you came to do. Now kindly see yourself out.
That is it. That is all.
William Rochelle, but you can call me Bill.
