Beyond the Headlines: Why Local Voices Matter

You can probably name the President. Maybe your Governor. Can you name the people deciding what happens on your street?

Roads, parks, schools, public safety, what gets built and what gets torn down.

Those calls get made locally, by people most of us couldn't pick out of a lineup.

That is exactly why this conversation matters.

Today on YOU BE YOU LIVE, I'm sitting down with Catherine “Cat” Uden, candidate for Hollywood City Commissioner, for an honest, thoughtful talk about local government, community leadership, and why every vote counts.

  • This is not about telling you who to vote for.

  • This is not about political parties.

  • This is not about creating division.

  • It is about creating understanding.

We've gotten very good at arguing and not nearly as good at listening. We form opinions about people before we've heard them speak. We make assumptions before we've asked a single question.

YOU BE YOU LIVE was built to be different. People should be able to sit down, share their perspectives, and explore ideas without hostility. We can disagree. We can challenge one another. We can see the world differently. None of that requires us to stop respecting each other.

Even if you don't live in Hollywood, Florida, the larger message travels.

Who represents your community? What decisions are being made on your behalf? How informed are you before you step into that voting booth?

Democracy works best when citizens are engaged, informed, and willing to show up.

So join us. Bring your curiosity. Spend an hour with a topic that touches all of us.

Not through sound bites. Not through headlines. Not through social media arguments.

Through conversation.
