Most people spend their lives waiting. Waiting for certainty. Waiting for the right opportunity. Waiting until they finally feel ready.
What I’ve learned is that life rarely works that way. Some of the biggest decisions I’ve ever made happened long before I felt prepared for them. The opportunity arrived first. The confidence showed up later.
I’ve seen it everywhere. In boardrooms. In startups. In people rebuilding their lives after losing jobs, businesses, relationships, and dreams they were sure would last forever. The common thread was never confidence. It was action.
The executive making a hard call this week doesn’t know exactly how it will land. The manager guiding a team through uncertainty doesn’t have all the answers. The employee fighting to grow can’t see every step ahead. The job seeker sending out another application doesn’t know which door will finally open.
Every one of them faces the same choice. Move forward or wait.
Waiting feels safe. Action feels risky. Growth has always lived on the other side of that fear.
Every meaningful chapter of my life began before I felt ready for it. Not because I was fearless. Because standing still was never really an option.
So as your week begins, hold on to this. You don’t need every answer. You don’t need perfect timing. You don’t need complete certainty. You only need enough courage to take the next step.
The confidence you’re searching for isn’t waiting at the starting line. It’s waiting a few steps down the road.
Keep moving. You’ll find it there.
