There is a specific kind of silence that shows up when you are waiting for something that could change your life. Your phone sits face up, not because you are desperate, but because today might be the day. This is dating and this is job searching. Same emotional contract, different rejection emails.

You search carefully, find the one that looks right, reach out, apply, exchange information, and then wait. Nothing happens. The quiet stretches longer than it should, and suddenly every notification feels important.

Your phone dings and your heart jumps. You grab it immediately. It is not the recruiter. It is Best Buy reminding you that you can save sixty percent on a ten thousand dollar television today. A phenomenal deal for a version of me with income.

Then the phone rings. This feels important. This feels like the call. It is your brother. Great guy, love him, absolutely the wrong moment.

Then it starts. Every fifteen minutes, the phone rings again. Different number, different city, different state, same call. The underwriting department wants you to know you are pre qualified for eighty thousand dollars. You block the number, report spam, move on, and it does not matter.

Fifteen minutes later, it happens again, and again,  & again. Thirty times today, and it is not even five o’clock yet. Each time your body reacts before your brain does, hope flickers, and reality shows up late.

This is the part nobody prepares you for. The waiting is not quiet. It is loud, repetitive, and emotionally exhausting. False alarms keep interrupting real patience.

This is what I am leaving in 2025. The interruptions pretending to be opportunities. The noise demanding attention while offering nothing in return.

What I am taking into 2026 is abundance, meaningful work, and a life that does not hinge on every notification. Because nothing lasts forever.

Except apparently robocalls from the underwriting department.

Make it stop! Is anyone else dealing with this or is my phone just actively messing with me?
