"Time Be My Friend, Part 2" – a phrase that takes on new meaning as my family and I navigate through a challenging yet unique weekend. The realization hit like a ton of bricks, but in the face of adversity, the bonds that tie us together only seemed to strengthen.

A Weekend of Togetherness

Feeling numb, this weekend was challenging, to say the least. However, it was also marked by collaboration with family. Unique how we can be on either sides of the earth, but when one is in need, we all show up. We delegated responsibilities, offered assistance to each other, and coordinated travel plans. It was as if distance didn't matter; our love for one another bridged all gaps.

My Sister's Secret Battle

What was difficult for the others was why they were just finding out about my sister's battle. Her guarded nature and precision in controlling her environment made sense, given her character. She had struggled with the diagnosis for years, thinking she could control the outcome through clean living and a holistic approach, rather than traditional medical best practices. We all listened, supported, and never pushed too hard, respecting her autonomy.

Cancer – The Unwelcomed Houseguest

Cancer is a force to be reckoned with—an unwelcomed houseguest that invades, multiplies, and takes over, often leaving devastation in its wake.

How it chooses its host is beyond understanding. Sheila, the epitome of clean living, fell victim to it, while my fried-chicken-loving self remains untouched. The contrast between us has always been a comedy of sorts, but now it's a poignant reminder of life's unpredictability.

The Present Moment

With the dogs fully vaccinated and boarding paid, and a flight ahead of me, there's a feeling of anticipation mixed with anxiety. Messages of love and concern, like the one from April Bowman, as for forgiveness? In our family, we don't linger on past grievances. We show up, putting love and unity above all else. Forgiveness and understanding are the cores of our family's bond.

An Urgent Plea

My message to you all: don't let time slip by on people you love. Make that call now, don't wait, for tomorrow is not promised.

In facing the trials of life, we find strength in family, faith, and the choices we make. Though the weekend was marked by uncertainty and fear, it was also a testament to the unbreakable bond that ties us together. It's in these moments that we truly realize the importance of time, love, and forgiveness.
