What I’ve Learned About Getting Hired In 2026

I’m not a standard applicant. I’m an Customer and Operations Executive. I scale businesses through growth, I merge departments, so the machine runs cleaner, I stabilize chaos without breaking people, and I understand wind down because protecting the team, the customers, and the brand matters right up to the last day. That blend is rare. It is also the exact reason the normal job hunt can feel like screaming into a void.

Here’s the hard truth. Most hiring funnels are built for predictable candidates who fit clean boxes. Operators do not fit clean boxes. Operators solve messy problems. Algorithms hate messy. Humans pay for it.

Before I Go Further, Let Me Be Clear

I’m not writing this to preach. I’m still navigating this landscape myself. I have real wins, real scars, and real urgency. I’m building my approach in real time because LinkedIn and traditional applying are not delivering results fast enough.

So this isn’t a victory lap. It’s a field report. If it helps you move smarter, even by one step, then it was worth writing.

What I’ve Done, In Plain English

I’ve walked into complex ecosystems and made them work better. Not by throwing buzzwords at a slide deck, but by rebuilding the operating rhythm. I’ve tightened customer experience, simplified workflows, improved performance, managed vendor chaos, and created systems that hold up under pressure. I’ve stepped into seasons of explosive growth and seasons where leaders needed discipline, clarity, and a plan that keeps people employed as long as possible.

If you have ever been told you’re overqualified, too senior, too broad, or “not quite the match” while you’re sitting there thinking, I can fix this entire department in ninety days, welcome to the club. The club has no snacks, but the members are dangerous in the best way.

What I’m Doing Differently To Win 2026

1) I’m replacing the résumé first approach with an outcome first approach A résumé lists what you did. An outcome tells people what you can fix. I’m leading with the problems I solve and the speed I solve them, because experienced operators are hired when leaders believe pain will disappear.

2) I’m building a one page impact brief Not a résumé. A single page that makes it easy for someone to forward me internally. What I fix How I fix it Proof points and wins What environments I thrive in What a fast start looks like in 30, 60, 90 days

3) I’m running a two lane strategy Lane one is income now. Lane two is the right seat. Lane one includes contract work, interim leadership, fractional operations, and short project cleanups. Lane two is targeted roles where my background is a necessity, not a nice to have. One lane is survival. Two lanes is momentum.

4) I’m targeting people, not postings Applications are paperwork. Conversations are leverage. For every company, I’m looking for two humans. One person on the hiring side One leader who owns the pain I solve That is how you get out of the lottery and into a real discussion.

5) I’m making the first ask small and clear Not a long meeting. Not a dramatic pitch. A short conversation to confirm fit and see where I can create value fast, even if it starts as a short engagement. Low pressure opens doors.

6) I’m publishing while I pursue If the process makes you invisible, you have to build your own signal. I’m sharing what I know, how I think, and how I lead, because content turns strangers into warm contacts and warm contacts into opportunities.

If You’re Stuck Too, Borrow This

If LinkedIn feels like a billboard you are shouting at, you’re not alone. If you’ve applied a lot and heard nothing, you’re not crazy.

Try this shift. Stop presenting yourself as a title. Start presenting yourself as a solution with receipts. Lead with outcomes, make it easy to forward you, run two lanes, and talk to real humans who own real problems.

I’m still in the middle of it myself. I’m just done doing it the old way.
